FINISHING LACQUERING ON A GLASS JAR

Are you in the pharmaceutical or cosmetics business and looking for a way to protect your products or stand out from the competition ? When it comes to selling, even the smallest details count. In this case, you are advised to personalise your containers, among other things. There are currently several techniques for decorating containers according to the customer’s needs. At Embalforme, we have mastered various finishing techniques, including lacquered finishing on glass jars.

What is lacquering?

Finishing is a method of finishing adopted to perfect an article. It can be applied to different types of materials : plastic, glass or metal.
In the packaging industry, finishing is used on almost all types of containers, including glass jars. There are many different finishing techniques :

– they cover the product in its entirety (this is the case for frosting and lacquering)

– or they allow the addition of a decoration (silk-screen printing, pad printing, engraving, etc.)

In the case of glass lacquering, this consists of impregnating a colour into the material with a spray system. With this technique, you can create different colour shades: satin, gloss, translucent, opaque and even gradations. In order to optimise the function of the container, other options can be combined with this operation. For example, it is possible to add an additive to make the pot UV resistant.

The different glass pots to be lacquered

Embalforme offers a range of glass jars that can be customised by lacquering. This is the case of our thick glass jars classified as “Premium“. In this category, we have a lacquered glass model. It has a capacity of 50 ml, with a height of 44 mm and a diameter of 67.5 mm. It has a GCMI 60/400 ring. The Premium jars have been designed for high-end products. Both the shape and the primary finish have already been designed to enhance the contents. However, they can still be customised using other finishing techniques. We also manufacture standard clear glass jars. They are available in various references with a useful capacity of 100, 50, 30 and 15 ml.

Other possible completions

In order to satisfy our various customers, we offer various finishing techniques for containers, but also for lids.

  • Frosting : this consists of making glass less transparent by treatment with acid vapours. Depending on the length of exposure, the glass can take on different shades of frosting : from glossy to matt, generally.
  • Silkscreen printing : this is a technique for printing decorations by depositing colours through silk screens. This technique is applicable to glass and plastic.
  • Pad printing: simpler than screen printing, this involves applying designs with an ink pad. This operation is mainly used to personalise plastic lids.
  • Hot stamping : using a gold, silver or metallic ribbon, the decoration is applied by a heating system.
  • Metallization : this gives the parts a metallic appearance. This technique is carried out under vacuum by spraying, especially on glass or plastic caps.
  • The metal cap : especially used for caps or droppers, this finish gives a touch of luxury to your container.
  • Logo engraving : also applied to plastic or metal caps, this finishing technique allows your container to be authenticated.
